About I am London

am London 2014 is a city-wide social media campaign brought to you by the London and Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership and it's Inclusion and Civic Engagement Subcouncil.

The campaign showcases the diversity of London, Ontario. The campaign celebrates successfully settled immigrants from different countries who have chosen to call London their home. They are proud and engaged members of our community who want to share their inspirational stories with other Londoners. Ten people have been selected to be the faces of our great city and be profiled on our blog and shared through Facebook and Twitter. The campaign is running from June 6th, 2014 until June 30th, 2014.

Last year’s campaign was our first.  We introduced you to 10 interesting, inspirational, and engaged newcomers.  The campaign garnered much media attention and was received very positively.  For that reason, we were excited to bring it back this year!

Throughout the campaign, people are asked to get involved by reading the stories of the faces of London on our blog and joining in the discussion by commenting, sharing on Facebook and retweeting the campaign posts on Twitter.

About the London and Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership (LMLIP)

The London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership (LMLIP) is a collaborative community initiative designed to strengthen the role of our community in serving and integrating immigrants. LMLIP is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and supported by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.

LMLIP is co-led by United Way London & Middlesex and the City of London.

Since its inception in 2009, LMLIP has brought together many sectors, volunteers and immigrant communities to develop and implement a locally-driven strategic plan for the successful integration of immigrants in London and Middlesex. The work of the LMLIP is guided by a Central Council and six Sub-councils representing issues on educationemploymenthealth and wellbeinginclusion and civic engagementjustice and protection services and settlement.
With the immigrant as the focal point, LMLIP works to achieve the five overarching outcomes of the six Sub-councils. These outcomes are: Supports and Services for Immigrants, Communication and Access to Information, Host Community, Supports for Service Providers and Advocacy/Systemic Change.
LMLIP has engaged over 500 individuals and volunteers from ethno-cultural groups, service providers, government and others with an interest in immigrant integration issues. LMLIP is a leader of projects, catalyst for new relationships and contributor to existing community efforts. To date, LMLIP has facilitated the development of over 20 innovative products and services (with more underway) built on creative partnerships across sectors.
